Women in Construction
As we reflect on the first quarter of the year, we’re proud to recognize Women in Construction Week, celebrated in March, and the incredible women who help drive our success every day. During that week, we highlighted the talented leaders at Homestead whose expertise, dedication, and leadership help move our projects forward from planning to completion.
Among those we celebrated were Kayla England, Senior Accountant; Karin Moore, Preconstruction Manager; Anne Smith, Controller; and Tamara Keller, Superintendent. From financial oversight and early project planning to guiding work through the final stages of construction, each plays an important role in bringing our communities to life.
From the office to the field, these women help shape the future of construction through their skill, leadership, and passion for the work they do. We’re grateful for the impact they make every day and proud to recognize their contributions!
Carriage Park is Now Leasing!
We’re excited to announce that leasing has officially launched at Carriage Park, and our marketing and advertising campaigns are now live! This milestone marks the next step in bringing our upscale, thoughtfully designed community to life. Celebrating Rae McKenney's Retirement
After almost 19 years at Homestead Companies, Rae is heading into a well-earned retirement.
Members of the Homestead team gathered to celebrate her with catered food, cake, and heartfelt appreciation for the many contributions she’s made over the years – most notably during her time as Community Manager at Olde Towne Apartments.
As one of the original team members, Rae often reflected on the pride she felt watching the company grow and the lasting connections built along the way. Her belief in the value of hard work and dedication has left a meaningful mark on both the team and the community.

Kingsley Park – Canal Winchester, Ohio
Kingsley Park has now been officially turned over to Operations. Homestead Construction is scheduled to conduct the final walkthrough next week to ensure everything meets requirements. Following that, they will wrap up the remaining minor landscaping work, which is anticipated to be completed in April, putting the finishing touches on the site.

Carriage Park – Huber Heights, Ohio
We are excited to announce that the Clubhouse is on track to open in just a couple weeks. After receiving TCO (Temporary Certificate of Occupancy), installation of FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) has begun, turning the Clubhouse design vision into reality. The first building is slated to welcome its very first tenants on May 25th, marking the next exciting milestone in the community’s development.

The Retreat at Marysville – Marysville, Ohio
The Retreat at Marysville is officially open and now welcoming residents. Homestead Construction is putting the finishing touches on the pool, with plans to have it fully operational and ready for enjoyment by late April.
Britton Park – Hilliard, Ohio
After a long, cold winter, construction is finally gaining momentum. Framing on the Clubhouse is underway and is expected to be under roof within the next two weeks. Site work is nearly complete, with 90% finished, and the first building slab is scheduled to be poured in just two weeks, with the remaining slabs to follow.

How long have you been with the company? June 2nd will be my 29th anniversary working at UV!
What were you doing before Homestead? I was the Property Accountant at a large apartment community in Memphis, TN before moving to Ohio. I was with this company for 5 years.
What do you enjoy most about your role? Every day brings a new challenge, which I truly enjoy. I love meeting new people, helping residents, and I even appreciate the paperwork. I'm also fortunate to work with a great team!
What's your favorite or proudest Homestead memory? When the Resident Life Center was built and our offices moved into it 10 years ago, it marked an exciting time that completely transformed the quality of our workday. In addition, I was honored to be the Champ Chain Winner in 2020 and to receive the Best Delinquency Management award in 2022.
What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever received? When dealing with an upset resident who is taking their frustration out on you, don't take it personally. Stay calm and do your best to help them resolve their concerns. I love the saying, teamwork makes the dream work!
What’s something people at work might not know about you? Many years ago, I was a hairstylist and also owned a fast food restaurant in a mall.
Where are you originally from? Wichita, KS
What is your dream vacation? A trip to Greece is on my bucket list that I'm looking forward to in the future!
What’s a favorite family tradition? Family working together to prepare a meal, enjoying quality time with everyone and playing with my grandsons, these are the moments I cherish most.

We proudly welcomed our very first residents this quarter, and three unit buildings have officially been turned over to Operations – marking major achievements for the project. With steady progress continuing across the remaining phases, Kingsley Park remains on track to reach full completion by March.

The clubhouse and its amenities continue to take shape, with the interior now ready for paint and exterior finishes approximately 90% complete. Building 2 has progressed to the point where drywall installation can begin, while framing is actively underway on both Buildings 2 and 4. Overall, the project continues to track well and remains on schedule for an April opening.
The Retreat at Marysville – Marysville, Ohio
We're on the cusp of a major win: final inspections are happening this week, paving the way for occupancy by the first of the year!
Britton Park – Hilliard, Ohio
Underground utilities are progressing steadily through December, laying the groundwork for continued momentum. Meanwhile, the clubhouse and first building's pads are ready for footing work by early February.

We’re excited to launch the 2025–2026 Homestead U Leasing & Renewal Campaign: Mentally, You’re Here! This playful, trend-inspired theme taps into how students imagine their ideal living spaces, creating emotional connections that drive both renewals and new leases.
The phrase “Mentally, You’re Here” celebrates residents who already feel at home, while “Mentally, You Could Be Here” invites prospects to picture themselves in the community. By reflecting the humor and lifestyle trends popular on TikTok and Instagram, the campaign keeps Homestead U properties feeling current, connected, and community-driven.

The Homestead America and Senior Living teams had a fantastic time at this year’s 2025 CAA Expo: Favorite Games! 🎉

Carriage Park – Huber Heights, Ohio
Carriage Park's clubhouse is framed, and MEP roughs have started (the initial installation of Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, and Plumbing systems before insulation and drywall are installed). The first building is framing the 3rd floor, and slabs are poured for two more buildings.
The Retreat at Marysville – Marysville, Ohio
Progress continues at The Retreat at Marysville. Finishes are now being installed on the East side of the building, putting us on track for a December TCO. We’re eagerly preparing to welcome our very first residents in January!
Britton Park – Hilliard, Ohio
Exciting news! Britton Park Apartments, Homestead’s 5th “Park Product,” is officially underway! With the construction loan closed and crews on-site, dirt is moving, structures for underground utilities are being received, and progress is in full swing. Located just two miles from downtown Hilliard off Britton Parkway, this brand-new community will offer modern 1 and 2 bedroom apartments paired with premium amenities designed for an upscale lifestyle. Residents will enjoy a resort-style pool, fitness room, yoga studio, sauna, coffee lounge, pickle ball court, and much more.

Kingsley Park's first apartment building is nearing completion and will be ready for occupancy October 17th. With the project currently 65% complete, construction remains on track to finish May 1, 2026.

Carriage Park – Huber Heights, Ohio
After breaking ground on May 19, 2025, the mass grading is complete, pond is in place and underground utilities have started. The clubhouse is scheduled to open April 14, 2026.
The Retreat at Marysville – Marysville, Ohio
The Retreat at Marysville is on track to open their first units in time for Christmas. The exterior is 90% complete, and drywall is being hung as of July 16, 2025.

At Lusso, the amenity deck is fully complete and ready to be enjoyed just in time for the warmer weather. Furniture has been placed, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Kingsley Park – Canal Winchester, Ohio
The clubhouse is now under roof, and MEP rough-ins are ongoing. The first two buildings are fully framed, with roof truss installation underway. Meanwhile, framing has officially begun on Building 3. Across the remaining pad sites, work continues on footings, slabs, and underground plumbing.

Polor Plunge, March Madness, and More!
Our Homestead U communities have been busy planning exciting social events for their residents! From the annual Polar Plunge at our Live South Green Communities in Athens, OH, raising money for the SEO Food Bank, to friendly March Madness pools, there’s something for everyone. Residents can also join roommate mixers to meet new people, take part in game nights, and enjoy a variety of themed gatherings throughout the year. These events are all about bringing people together, building connections, and making our communities feel like home. With construction underway and a brand-new logo, this vibrant community is on track to welcome its first residents in Fall 2025. Exciting progress is happening at Lusso Apartments as we approach the final stages of construction. The pool and landscaping are now fully complete, and the patio and clubhouse furniture have been installed. Our team is putting the finishing touches on the stunning two-story clubhouse, and the amenity deck is in its final phase of development, bringing these luxurious outdoor spaces to life.

Getting Move-in Ready at Signature
Our team at Signature Apartments in Lexington, Kentucky has finished the first round of furniture move-ins! In just a few days, they moved hundreds of furniture pieces into each unit to prepare for the arrival of the first residents at Lexington’s newest student housing community.👏

Welcoming Our Newest Homestead Village Community to Fort Wayne, Indiana
We are excited to announce that our newest Homestead Senior Living community in Fort Wayne, IN has recently received their Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO)! Tours are now available, furniture is set up, offices are ready, and we are officially preparing for move-ins. With the addition of our Fort Wayne location, we now have five fully operational senior living properties!
Wrapping Up The Summer 2024 Homestead Hustle Challenge!
We have recently concluded our latest Homestead Hustle Fitness Challenge! Over the last several weeks, participants have been competing against one another to earn points by tracking their activities and earning badges. From completing 180 minutes of cycling to tracking minutes of stretching, our team members have been working hard to beat the challenge.
Congratulations to our GRAND PRIZE winner, Jason Schultz! Way to go! Jason ended the challenge with 10,289 points. He was followed by Hailey Fisher with 8,264 points, Shannon Latsko with 7,317 points, Jill Tackett with 7,082 points, and Qiletha Caston with 7,050 points, rounding out the top 5.

What would you most likely tell your 13-year-old self? Do not let things that happen around you affect your goals; everything happens for a reason no matter how good or bad it may seem.

What is your dream vacation? I would love to stay in an over-the-water bungalow in Tahiti!

Jessica Spears
What is your current position? I was promoted to Assistant Project Manager in September.
How long have you been with Homestead Companies? At the end of March, I'll have worked for Homestead for 1 year.
What does it mean to you to be in construction? Being part of the construction industry offers me an unparalleled sense of purpose and fulfillment. It's not just about the physical act of building; it's about being an integral part of a team that collaborates effectively, forming strong bonds with colleagues and external partners alike. The opportunity to leverage cutting-edge tools and methodologies to oversee complex projects like Lusso exemplifies the dynamic and impactful nature of our work. For me, construction is about contributing my best to a collective effort that results in tangible, lasting achievements.
What is your proudest construction moment/accomplishment? My journey with Homestead Construction stands out as a testament to personal growth and professional development. Starting with little to no experience in the field, I was propelled by a relentless drive to learn and contribute. This determination was recognized when, just six months in, I was promoted to my current role. This rapid advancement is not just a personal milestone; it symbolizes the potential for growth and achievement in the construction industry for those who are committed to excellence and continuous learning.
What is your favorite thing about working in construction? The essence of construction, for me, lies in the synergy of teamwork and the tangible outcomes of our labor. There's a unique satisfaction in witnessing the direct results of our collective efforts, seeing structures rise and projects come to fruition before our eyes. This blend of collaborative spirit and visible progress fuels my passion for the field, making every day a rewarding experience.

What is your current position? Project Manager.
How long have you been with Homestead Companies? Just under a year.
What does it mean to you to be in construction? There is never a dull moment.
What is your proudest construction moment/accomplishment? Ensuring Homestead Companies continues to develop outstanding multifamily housing that provides residents the best experience possible.
What is your favorite thing about working in construction? Collaborating daily with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to guarantee projects remain on time and within budget.
Daniela Castillo
What is your current position? Assistant Project Manager.
How long have you been with Homestead Companies? 10 months.
What does it mean to you to be in construction? I love contributing to the design and construction of new spaces and buildings for society and the urban environment.
What is your proudest construction moment/accomplishment? My proudest construction moment was working on the tallest building in Latin America with Gold LEED Certification.
What is your favorite thing about working in construction? My favorite thing about working in construction is that every day is different. There is always something new to learn, new construction systems, new construction methods/strategies, new softwares, new materials, etc. It is exciting to work with constant changes and challenges.
Big Wins for River Park, River’s Edge, and River Gate!
Throughout Quarter 1, we welcomed our teams at River Park, River’s Edge, and River Gate to the 100% Club for the 2024-2025 leasing season and they did it in record time, too! Building G and H are nearing completion at Lusso Apartments! Building F is continuing to move forward as the drywall installation and finish trades are in progress. The model will be open in early April to welcome VIP tours.
